About the datums
- WGS84 — the global standard used by GPS, Google Maps, and most modern devices.
- NAD83 — the North American Datum of 1983; near-identical to WGS84 in CONUS (sub-meter).
- NAD27 — the older North American Datum of 1927; coordinates differ from WGS84 by 10–100 m. Many legacy USGS topographic maps use NAD27.
